FEDERATION of dover catholic schools
On the 1st September 2008 the newly elected Federated Governing Body took
on the responsibility for both schools.
Mr. Chris Atkin, previously Headteacher of St Edmund's Secondary, now serves as Executive Headteacher for both schools in the Federation of Dover Catholic Schools. Ms. Jill Chapman has taken on responsibilities for St Richards Primary on a temporary basis from September 2010, whilst Miss. Anne Locke takes on a similar role at St Edmunds Secondary from the same period. Federation will allow both schools to work closely together under the same management structure to enhance the studies of 4 – 19 year olds in a Christian atmosphere. Eventually both schools will merge under the same name.
• Notre Dame – an alternative to St Mary’s or Our Lady’s. Mary is often associated with seafarers and ports and the French version reflects our proximity to France.
• St Benedict - the Patron Saint of Europe or founder of the Benedictines
and favourite ‘northern saint’ of the late Cardinal Basil Hume. There was
once a Benedictine Priory in Dover.
• All Saints speaks for itself, offering unity across the Dover Deanery.
• St Thomas – the Patron Saint of Dover. A Benedictine monk and martyr, who died in St Martin’s Priory in Dover in 1295.

Rainbows
The Rainbows programme offers weekly support to students who have suffered
from life changing experiences, for instances: bereavement, divorce or separation.
The actually Rainbows programme is aimed more at primary school level and
was first introduced to St Richard’s at the beginning of 2008. However Spectrum
is the secondary school level which comes under the Rainbows umbrella. Spectrum
was first introduced to St Edmund’s School in October 2007. Read
